What is a Content Security Policy (CSP)?

In Plain English

A Content Security Policy (CSP) tells visitors’ web browsers exactly which websites, scripts, images, fonts, and other resources your website is allowed to load. Anything not on the approved list is blocked.

Why It Matters

Many modern cyber attacks rely on injecting malicious JavaScript into websites. A properly configured CSP helps prevent browsers from loading unauthorized scripts, significantly reducing the effectiveness of these attacks.

What Could Happen Without It?

If malicious code is injected into your website through a compromised plugin, vulnerable form, or third-party service, visitors’ browsers may execute that code without realizing it’s unsafe. A CSP helps stop many of these attacks before they can run.
